Q: Do you perform massage face down or side lying?
A: Pregnancy massage is performed in the side-lying position and semi-reclined position with many bolsters, pillows and another pregnancy-related bolstering to aid in optimal relaxation and positioning for mamma to relax and the body to unwind.
Q: Is it safe to receive massage on my belly?
A: Yes absolutely. Massage can help the tightness and stretching during pregnancy and the oils and creams are very beneficial for the moisturizing the skin.
Q: How soon after my pregnancy can I receive Massage?
A: As soon as your ready even right away unless instructed otherwise by your Primary Health Professional. Postpartum is one of the most important times to receive massage therapy to aid in a speedy recovery, postpartum depression, and encourages structural realignment.
Q: Are there any precautions or contraindications?
A: Women who have experienced any bleeding or pre-term contractions should consult a physician or prenatal care provider before receiving a massage. Please see list below:
- High-Risk Pregnancy
- Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH)
- Preeclampsia
- Previous preterm labor
- Experiencing severe swelling, high blood pressure, or sudden, severe headaches
